Two of Willoughby-Eastlake Preschool's staff were honored with the Impact and Connection Award this month. Staff are nominated by their peers for being extraordinary in their field. Superintendent Dr. Patrick Ward visited the school to present the awards earlier this month.

Kathleen Robinson, Intervention Specialist, possesses a literal magic with her students; from day one, she captivates children and parents alike, making her classroom the most requested in the building. As the preschool’s “go-to” expert, she is famously humble and shuns the spotlight, yet her legendary “heart of gold” and readiness to help anyone at any time have earned her an unmatched reputation.

 

Carolyn Flacke, Paraprofessional, is an exceptional educator whose patience and dedication make her invaluable asset to the Willoughby-Eastlake Preschool. Whether she is managing challenging behaviors with grace or leading building-wide initiatives like “Start with Hello” and the staff social committee, her impact is felt by everyone. Beyond the classroom, her consistent presence at community events and food drives highlights a rare, tireless commitment to students and families. Carolyn’s organizational skills and positive spirit truly represent the very best of the district.

 

We had the sweetest day with our stuffies in Miss Lupica & Mrs. Flacke's class.

We hosted a picnic, played school, and even drew their portraits! We measured them to see who was tallest, read them a story, and took care of them at our pretend doctor’s office to help them feel better. Then we built them cozy homes and sent them soaring through the air with a parachute.

So much imagination, learning, and fun all in one day.

 

Our Preschool PBIS Acknowledgement Party was a SUPER success in Miss Kathleen & Mrs. Vale's class.

To celebrate them being respectful, responsible, ready to learn,  and to be safe, we threw a special dress-up day and they did not disappoint!

We had brave superheroes, sparkling princesses, and so many big smiles filling the room. It was such a fun way to recognize their hard work and reinforce the positive behaviors we love to see every day.

 

Our little farmers got hands-on experience and jumped right into farm life! They milked the cow, washed the pigs, mucked the horse stalls, and tackled so many other fun “jobs” around the farm as they ended their Farm and Food unit.

 

Our preschool uses developmentally appropriate child guidance and management techniques which are in alignment with the district’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports expectations. PBIS is an instructional approach to teaching social skills through the use of systematic and individual strategies. It is designed to build positive relationships among all school stakeholders and to prevent problem behaviors.

Our students are expected to Be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn! A supportive and caring environment helps our students grow individually, develop friendships and make strong connections with their teachers.
